R u up on latest Dog and Cat DRY dog food recall, Natural Balance?

Question by Jo: R u up on latest Dog and Cat DRY dog food recall, Natural Balance?
Okay, this is beyond disturbing. Now another premium brand has recalled product and this time dry dog and cat food. NATURAL BALANCE update at t his link:

DP, I absolutely agree, and there is likely a common connection, too. Some foods that are ultra-premium have some of their ingredients processed thru the mega dog food plants. I am tired of investigators either not doing their job or not discussing the results. OR BOTH. Everything is “safe” until it is “recalled” but the recalled products come from the “safe” shelves, and I am about to go back to raw diet for my dogs.

Yup, and I don’t think it’s the end of it.. Sadly enough. It looks like they are testing them one at a time and posting them as they get to them.. Should have more testing going on to find them all quicker.

My dogs have allergies im thinking about switching them to one of these http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dogformulas/allergy.html
Has anyone had any success with the Limited Ingredient Diets?? Is Natural Balance a good food in general for a dog with allergies?

Best answer:

Answer by americansneedtowakeup
My dog had a MAJOR immune system breakdown and skin rashes/infections, cloudy eyes and flea infestation (although she was on Frontline) and I put her on Life’s Abundance by Trilogy and within 3 months she was like a new dog. I swear by that food. It contains no animal bi-products, no traces of any euthanasia drugs and is VERY balanced. It even qualifies for human consumption. It’s not the only good food out there – in my estimation there are around 5 superior brands, It is a little more expensive but then again, it saves on vet bills and allergy treatments. Good luck and I hope your dog gets better. Btw, Trilogy only does mail order but it is worth it and if you go on autoship they give you a decent price break on each bag.

I bought Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula dog food for my dog. I was wondering if it is a good dog food and what kind of reaction did it have with your dog. My dog has Food Allergies and believe she is allergic to chicken and beef. thank you

I love this stuff and it’s often on sale at petco. My vet told me it’s the only commercial hypoallergenic food he’d ever recommend. But you might want to get some protein in him. I feed the dry Sweet Potato and Venison but there’s also Duck and Potato. My dog doesn’t have allergies, I just like the food and mix it in 50/50 with his other dry food.

Q&A: Thoughts on Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Ultra Dog Food for Puppies?

Question by Toni: Thoughts on Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Ultra Dog Food for Puppies?
I have a 14 week old mix (hound dog/terrier) who now weighs 20 lbs and is full of energy and growing like a weed. We got her from a shelter where she was on Hill Science Puppy Dry, but last week I started slowly transferring her over to Natural Balance Ultra (dry and wet). She loves it and I can already tell a difference in her coat and energy level.
At the time I did a lot of research on the web comparing Wellness, Pro Plan, Bill Jac, Blue Buffalo and Flint River.

I went with Natural Balance. However one concern I have is they do not have puppy food or senior food, but feed all stages of a dogs life the same food (various amounts).

So far so good and I hope I made the right choice.

Thanks

I think it’s a good food, just horribly expensive.

Definitely a heck of a lot better than Science Diet, puppy or not.

If your puppy is doing well on it and growing properly, it’s just fine. A high quality food like that is superior to the puppy versions of the cheap foods.

Is it A.F.F.C.O approved?? If so then I’d say yes, just make sure your pups on the puppy formula it until 15 months due to the size of the breed. (12months for small breeds, 15 months for medium and 18 months for Large)

I’m switching my two dog’s food from science diet and am looking for something that is better but is also easy to find.
I’m certainly no nutritionist, but I’ve been doing a little research to find a good food.

I’m looking for what others have to say about this food.

I would probably use pedigree because some of those dog foods are made in china and they make dog food out of plastic.so if the dog eats it it me suffocate itself.

Answer by petloverlady
check ingrediants on bag and do some comparing. never change food suddenly. do it slowly over a period of 2 weeks and ask your vet. foods with lots of dyes and fillers are bad and the dog eats more to satisfy his hunger
