Question by Kati W: What is the most Best Dog Food? Please read this! WILL GIVE 10 POINTS!?
Hi Everyone! I have four dogs. 1 Purebred Sheltie. 42 pounds. And he is 8 1/2 years old. 1 Purebred Yorkie 5 pounds And is 1 year old. 1 Purebred Shihtzu 4 years old. 13 pounds. 1 Purebred Poodle 4 years old. 5 1/2 pounds. Every dog is a good weight. They are all healthy. They don’t have allergies or stomach problems or anything like that. They have been fed Hill’s Science Diet for most of their life. We just feed the regular food. Nothing for allergies or sensitive stomachs, or anything like that. We have fed this food for most of their lives. We fed it to them because our Vet’s recomended it. Anyways I now know after doing some research that Science Diet is not a good dog food after all. So I’ve been doing research on other Dog Foods to see which one is the best. Please people READ this! I know that their is a lot of stuff. I’m going to list names of Dog Foods that I think are pretty good. I know this is a lot of Dog Foods. But please Read. I have done research on these Dog Foods to know that they are good. But I wanted other people’s descions also. Ok here are the dog foods. All of the Dog Foods.

- Ok that’s all of them! I know their is a ton of them! I have done some research on them, enough to know that they are good. But I need to do furthur researchand narrow it down to 1 dog food. These were NOT in any specific order. I listed them in. I just wrote them down. I am willing to pay any price. I want people to pick out the Dog Food(s) that they think is best. And give a few reasons why they think that it is good. And pick out a few Dog Foods that you don’t think is good and a few reasons why. And if you don’t think any of the Dog Foods that I’ve listed our good. Then say a few reasons why. And give the name of Dog Food that you think is good and why you think that. Well that’s everything! Question by Zeffer: PLEASE HELP! What is better for a puppy with a sensitive stomach???? ?
My pup has had chronic loose stool (forming cow pies) to a few spouts of severe diarrhea squirting out.
He does not have worms, giardia and the vet thought it might be a bacterial infection in his stomach and gi track. He was treated for that but a couple of days after the antibiotics which also acts as a stool firmer it started once again. I have tried California Natural and Eagle Pack Holistic with no success. At this point I am ready to make a drastic change. I wanted to try Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance. I am torn between the Duck and Potato and the Sweet Potatoes and Fish formula. Does anyone have any experience with this??? I also thought this brand may be good because he is a basset hound and I know they can be very prone to food allergies. So I thought grain less may be good. I even had him on a digestive supplement that was “fructo oligo sacchrides”. Which is a pre-biotic that helps the gi track absorb nutrients with no success also.
My only concern with these formulas is that they are only about 21% protein and 10% fat which seems low for a puppy. I have read reviews from people who raised their puppies on this food and the dogs grew to be very healthy. So I thought I would give it a shot and just monitor him closely to make sure he is gaining weight and muscle mass. Because I would think with the stool issues and the poop just constantly quickly coming out that he would not be absorbing many nutrients.
What do you think???
At this point I am so frustrated with the problem (not him) that I want to make a DRASTIC change. I will not feed Science Diet Prescription formulas because they are garbage! So please do not even suggest that.
Nor am I interested in feeding a raw diet.

Yeah cat food is HORRIBLE for dogs, thank you!!! The California Natural formula he was on was Chicken and Rice only.
I know the switching of foods is not good, but it can’t go on this way. So in switching the food this time I was thinking I would take it extremely slow. About a week and a half to 2 weeks. Instead of just a week.

We have a 7 month old, 41 pound mutt. We have always fed him Purina Puppy Chow. He has had really dry and flaky skin as well as rashes lately. So, I have been doing research and in the process have learned how horrible all these major store brands are. So, I have been doing research and reading reviews for better food. I have narrowed it down to Canidae All Life Stages, Solid Gold Hundchen Floken Puppy Food, and Natural Balance. Any experience or knowledge or suggestions would be so helpful. Thank You!

Don’t know where you are but i am in the UK and feed my dog Oscars fish and maize dry food
It is great for his bad disgestion and is hypoallergenic from skin problems too
Try and pick something as natural as possible, dogs so not need food colourings etc

iams has researched documented dog food that can be changed with age. Many breaders swear by it.

I’ve never heard and never used them. I think bakers or iams is the best food you could give. Hope that helps!

Some one asked this same question not to long ago and the best all natural low protein food was Dick VanPattens. You will have to check to see which one it was. But before you do switch please check with your vet to see if it is low enough in protein to help your pup out. OK
