Question by Mustang: Which is a better quality dog food? Eagle Pack Holistic, Natural Balance, or Avoderm?
And which one of these dog foods produces the least stool volume?

I have been giving my dog Blue Seal Natural 26 dog food (dry) all his life (he’s 7) and that is what we have always given our dogs throughout the years. I was talking to someone in a food pet store and she said that Eukanuba wasn’t the best, in fact, it wasn’t that great at all and doesn’t sell well at their store. She said something called “wellness” is alot better. I always thought that Eukanuba was the best you can get? (I was just wondering because I was looking for can food for him just to hide his antibiotics in it so he will take them, and wet food usually gave him diarrhea so I wanted to go with something that was higher quality). I have no problem with the Blue Seal and will continue to use that for his everyday food.

I use Science Diet because it’s made by the people who make the medical grade pet food that many vets use.

I have an entire freezer filled with hind quarters and racks of ribs from deer that have been harvested by friends. Is there a good recipe for good natural venison dog food out there?
Thanks for the ideas, I have about as much jerkey made up as we can stand.

Innova, Eagle Pack, Wellness, or Natural Balance. Blue Buffalo is also very good. I personally use Natural Balance.

It’s your dog, you can feed crap treats if you want to. But you’d probably change your mind if you actually read the list of ingredients. The majority of crappy treats have a lot of sugar in them, not to mention corn, wheat and other ingredients that are really bad for dogs. Why not try a good quality treat – Zuke’s treats are tiny, chewy (ideal for training rewards) and are top quality. There’s hundreds of others, all made by the companies that also make good dog food.

I always heard that iams,kibbles,purina,ekubma, and etc is garbage for your dog. I want my dog to live a long healthy life. I have a dalmatian and I know the are known to have kidney problems later on. I want to prevent this. Would feeding my dog all natural food like Wellness be good for his health?

Wellness is good. Iams and all that you listed are crap. They are full of fillers and by-products that are not good for your dog and have no nutritional value.
I prefer grain free foods. I feed taste of the wild.

I went to Dog Food Analysis website and entered in different dog foods. I was very surprised at my findings. Did anyone else realize that Eukanuba for instance (a higher priced dog food) is comparable or gets the same 1 star rating as a bargain dog food such as Come & Get it?
I feed an all natural dog, by product/corn/wheat free food that recieves a 3 star rating. Mainly because of insufficient meat content. I supplement this with meaty bones and innerds such as a bit of heart and liver from various animals but beef and pork namely. They do get occasional venison or wild bird product as well. Is this just as benificial to my dogs as feeding a 6star rated dog food? Why or why not?
To all you RAW feeders out there, if you comment, be aware that feeding a strictly raw diet is undesirable for me. I have researched it and researched it but do not feel confident going completely raw…but I do add it in addition to a dry dog food as I understand the benifites. But I am not confident that I could “make” a dog food that is 100 balanced.
To anyone else, who feeds crap and is happy with it, please do not comment. I would appreciate answers from folks who have experience in the area of dog food. I by no means will feed totally crap dog food.
I live in an area where getting the 6star dog food is impossible. No one has heard of it or is unable to get it. I was looking at Innova, Orijen, and Wellness Core, namely.

Marna o…just what ingredients could be in a dog food that you would refuse to feed and why?
For me, I keep it simple, I want wheat and corn free, by-product free & ethoxiquin free fish. I like a dog food that has omega fatty acids and probiotics added.

I feed Innova EVO and have to travel into the big city (3 hours each way) to get it. It’s worth it to me.

What i want to know is before these foods like innova, california natural, merrick, orijen, wellness, and so on, before these ever came about which is true they werent around since forever/whatever, what did you feed your dogs? And how well did they do on the foods?
Im curious because i was just looking at reviews, and its seems to me that most of the ones that bash foods are just copy and pasting and plagiarizing.
I know these foods wernt always around, these a fairly new foods. I want honest answers no lying, and i can tell when someone is lying even online.
Im not here to start any fights, this is a legitimate question that deserves respect and true answers. On that note answer away.
i agree with you tulip about that site but my basis is solely on the fact that lots of that stuff is plagiarized
