Question by joe-dee: My dog has some major anxiety issues, what natural foods can I give her to calm her down?
I got her from the dog pound when she was a puppy(pit bull/terrier), she’s been with us for a year. She’s a spaz. She’ll walk around our coffee table 4-5 times, sit for 10 seconds then start that ritual again, maybe 3 or 4 times, until we put her to a halt. She behaves like a cat, when we bath her. After her bath, she threw up twice. She got herself all worked up.
She pee’s when she’s exaggerated happy.

You don’t cure anxiety with food. She needs lots and lots more exercise than she is getting if she paces like that all the time. She is bored! Take her for a long walk for about an hour everyday, or better yet, run her. She should also get another 30-60 mins of exercise, like fetch, or another walk later on. She is a smart breed who does not know what else to do with all of her pent-up mental and physical energy.

What are some Veterinarian Recommended Dog Foods?

What are some good lamb and rice dog foods available?

Question by prettypanther_a: What are some good lamb and rice dog foods available?
Nutro Natural Choice recently changed their lamb and rice formula, which has my dog not feeling the greatest. Now, I am looking for a new Lamb and Rice food to feed him. I would like to stick with a food comparable in price to Nutro’s Lamb and Rice. All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

http://www.ehow.com/how_4452582_own-dog-biscuits.html (wheat flour, oatmeal & rice based)

http://dogs.suite101.com/article.cfm/homemade-dog-biscuits-made-easy for recipe below:
Homemade Gourmet Dog Biscuit Recipe
•12-16oz raw liver,
•1 1/2 lbs white or whole wheat flour,
•8oz Quaker oats,
•3 bouillion cubes (beef or chicken),
•Appoximately 1 cup of water,
•2 beaten eggs
Preheat your oven to 350 and grease about three baking pans, use a food processor to chop the liver finely, or you can do it by hand. Mix the flour and oats together in a bowl, crumble the bouillion cubes, add the chopped liver and eggs, then add enough water (approx 1 cup) to make the dough firm and slightly sticky. Spread the biscuit dough out with a rolling pin until it is about an inch thick, then you can use a cookie cutter dipped in flour to cut out your biscuits. Bake your treats for an hour then put them into an airtight container and refridgerate them for about two weeks. Your dog can enjoy these anytime after they have cooled, they have to be refrigerated because of the liver that is used to make them.

Question by jlstarheel: I just got a new puppy, can anyone recommend some good dog foods for puppies?
We already spoke to a vet, but I really would like to feed him a more natural dog food without fillers and extra fat. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated. Also, if anyone has an recommendations for books to read about training and caring for your puppy that would be quite helpful as well. Thanks so much!!
